The OBD (Onboard Diagnostics) standard has been developed to read vehicle information, firstly to check for polluting emissions. Electronic computers on the engine have managed to reduce harmful emissions. OBD checks the engine’s proper functioning during the life of the vehicle.
In 1988, California Air Resources introduced OBD1. The second generation, OBD2, was developed in the 1990s. With the introduction of the Euro3 standard for exhaust gases, the EOBD was implanted, based on OBD2. Emission disturbances are signaled using an indicator on the vehicle dashboard and records the corresponding codes.
The Euro3 emission standard application
As a result of Euro3 (European Directive 98/69 / EC), the emission standard applies. With the correct emission standard, input of the vehicle is possible. The Euro Emission Standard is listed on newer license vehicles. Other cars can be found on the inside of the door frame. (Driver side or passenger side).
Some vehicles are not covered by the guidelines. Manufacturers are waiting for new guidelines before they implant the standard. New Euro norms provide even less emissions of harmful substances.
Commercial vehicles and commercial vehicles are also covered by European directives, with the date of application being different.

Motor fault indicator
The combustion in the engine is as clean and efficient as possible. A fault in the engine management system is indicated by means of a light on the instrument panel. Depending on the malfunction, the following reports appear:
- Light is on: A malfunction has been detected that affects polluted emissions. You can keep driving with the vehicle. Have the system checked.
- Lamp flashes: There is a serious problem with the engine or electronics that regulates the fuel injection. Stop the vehicle and contact the garage company.
- Lamp lights up intermittently: The system passes an error without confirming it. The indicator turns itself off for some time.
- Lamp is off: No polluted emissions have been detected. However, there may be an error, for example a malfunction in the glow plugs. Ensure regular maintenance of the vehicle.

Diagnostic plug
The OBD2 plug is often located under the steering wheel in the fuse box or under the ashtray, near the handbrake. The Multi Analyzer is connected to the OBD2 connector. If you can’t find this connection, please visit the location from OBD connectors.
